Today the bible study was ridiculous. There was close to twenty people over. It was great. We studied the first part of Philippians chapter two. It was a good study. Whistler school starts on Monday. I'm really excited.

Funk skis

Greg showed me how to make skis today. Super chill guy. Owner of Funk Skis. A true skier. Builds his own skis in his shop with high quality materials and methods. Spent most of my day there. I was just doing mundane tasks just to try to help him out but not make him waste too much time explaining things. The entire process of making skis really isn't that hard if you have the right equipment. I admire the guys passion, spirit and bravery for taking on such an adventure.

Philippians group

Philippians group today, we studied the first chapter. It was pretty awesome. Such a small book but it contains so much insight.
Philippians 1:29 (NIV)
For it has been granted to you on behalf of Christ not only to believe on him, but also to suffer for him,

Please pray for Calvin,

Please pray for Calvin, he's been in the hospital for over a week from a snowboarding accident. Today he came home for a few hours but had to be rushed back to Vancouver in an ambulance for surgery to bypass his kidneys.

After dropping off Ernst at YVR, we again headed to Aberdeen to meet up with Al and Ali. Though there were over 25 Chinese restaurants there, Andy goes to the Whitespot for a burger.

We visited Calvin in the hospital. He was happy but still looked like he was in a lot of pain.  Ernst is trying to look like the little drummer boy for good Christmas Spirit.

Spent the morning at Lonsdale Quay Market in North Van.

Finally found some crepes. Smoked salmon.

Picked up this gem at the quay just as the rain was stopping.

An interesting night started at the Monashee Irish pub. What a nice place to have a brew. It was Ernst last night in Canada so we wanted to celebrate a little.
I didn't have key's to Al's place, so I sent Al a msg saying that I will be late but didn't have a response. This worried me a bit.

Showed up at Al's place around 2:20am rang his garage 4 times and called him about 9 times in the span of 15 mins. Here's a pic of me getting comfy in the car in the parking lot. Hotel Toyota Matrix.

4am, Al wakes me up in the car and is like "OMG! I'm so sorry, where are you?" Haha, me: "I'm down in the car in the parking lot across the street"

Cool sea-village on Granville Island. All the houses here are actually floating. I wonder if they need a boat license. Hmm, I wonder where their toilets go.

Andy found his candy.

Oh Christmas tree

Yay Christmas dinner at the Whistler Fairmont. Can't believe the year has pasted so quickly. Seems like it was Summer just yesterday.

What a good time.  Though they ran out of turkey.  Yes!  The Fairmont ran out of turkey!  I got some though.

Played some tether ball and ping pong in the games room after.  We then headed to a pub for a pint.

Replace the word "love" with "Jesus"

1 Corinthians 13:4-8 (NIV)
Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. [5] It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. [6] Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. [7] It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. [8] Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away.

Now read it again but replace "Jesus" with your name.

Super late start this morning I felt exhausted. There is some strep throat going around so its probably better to be well rested.

Fixed up some baba ghanouj on a begal today. I love that stuff but I think I buy it more because I like to say its name.

Ernst with my snowboard gear.  Haha he did better than when he was on skis.

God is good all the time.

God is good all the time. We had 9 people show up today for bible study. The dynamics of the group worked very well. There was great open discussion of the line we draw that separates us from God. We also hashed out a vision for the group.

Walk to the village.
Proverbs 17:22 (NIV)
A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones.

Spiritual alignment

James 4:3,10 (NIV)
When you ask, you do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives, that you may spend what you get on your pleasures. [10] Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up.

If you drive a car, you probably know how important it is to make sure the wheels are in good alignment. Wheels out of alignment cause excess tire wear and can even effect the handling and safety.
This can be caused by bumping into curbs, hitting large potholes, or just over time as the car gets older. Sometimes its noticeable if the car pulls to one side. Though sometimes the wheels are just pointed towards each other just enough that the car still goes straight making it unnoticeable.

Sin is like the curbs and potholes of our life. They damage our focus towards God and cause us to pull to one side of the path. Sometimes we don't even realize it, but it slowly wears at our patience and integrity the same way a mis-aligned wheel wears away the tires.
Is your life due for a spiritual alignment? Are you headed on a straight path towards our father, or is there something pulling you in another direction?
